Hold On

You're holding,
clutching
the ledge for dear life.
Praying that
there's a chance for you.

And you hope
your hands will stay steady,
that they won't slip.
And you won't fall
far past my reach.

And I feel you
through the spaces
in my heart.
Hiding
In the corners of my mind.
Come out,
come out
wherever you are.

It is interesting that it is easier to get a clear picture of yoiur thought process from a poem of yours than actually talking to you. It is easy to see this guy hanging onto the edge of a marble floor hanging over a cliff, while you don't know exactly where he is and you sort of don't want him to fall crashing to his death. More falling metaphors... you don't seem to believe so much in falling in love as in being caught.

Do you think I would make a good psychoanalyst?

Incidentally, the title has nothing to do with the awful Jonas Brothers song of the same title, right?

You make a great PSYCHOanalyst. Sorry, I couldn't resist. But you ARE very good at that! I suppose that on paper (computer screens, in this case), I can let feelings out without worrying about being judged. It's a good feeling :-)

I guess I've been left to fall so many times that I don't believe anyone will catch me.

Oh no way! That song is a little too repetitive...as in, "Hold on, hold on. Hold on, hold on." I don't think they've realized that you need more than two words to make up a chorus...much less a song. But they're a product of Disney, so whatever. I guess they can get away with it.

AND DOES ANYONE NOTICE THE LABELS??? Wow, I thought they would cause nearly as much controversy as, "Found". Interesting...

I'm onto you, fellow bloggers...

I hoped you wouldn't make me go there, but now I will. I find myself questioning "Him"'s identity because you have not edited your blog list. I'm confused, was this the "Him" that you were talking to me about, or a different "Him" entirely? I'm guessing you're moving past the stuff we had a conversation about.

I guess it's hard to come up with a chorus after Avril Lavigne does "Keep Holding On" and uses many of the same words... I wonder when they'll crash and burn, quite honestly, because for some part there seems to be a Disney curse.(i.e., Britney, Lindsay, etc.)

Bela said...

This "Him" is not who we were talking about. I'm moving past that...ever so slowly. It the OLD him. And I haven't edited the list because I don't want to send any signals of any kind...you know?

Hehe...I'm listening to Avril Lavigne right now :-) Ironic, no?

Yes, will they crash and burn soon, or will they keep "Living the Dream"? Can you say Corny?

Yeah, there IS a Disney curse. Miley Cyrus is going through it right now. Maybe there are no secrets, and everyone is waiting for the little Disney Angels to mess up. After all, "Nobody's Perfect". Okay, sorry. I'll stop that.

Well, I have been wondering what "signals" you have been sending since you didn't put the blog that was originally MINE and MARIA'S that YOU are now a part of but apparently want no association with on this blog???

Just kidding. But you never put Sound Bites on your list, so I don't see why you can't edit it. If I were "Him" I wouldn't be coming to this website anymore anyways.

'Ain't it the truth?

I'm so sorry! I completely forgot! Let me do that right now...

That's better.... ;)

Bela said...

Whoa...easy on the winking, Maria. Kidding, kidding. You know you love me for doing that :)

If you'd like it that way...

What happened to posting new stuff every once in a while? And am I the only one impatient to see the CWP anthology??? I mean, we've already gotten a new mouthpiece and a new computer by mail, so what's stopping a slim, book-sized object from making its way through the mail chutes???

Oh Maria...

Should I post some more? Sorry, school has been hectic. Yeah, where is that?

Gina, Maria, I'm sending you both an important email...

Gina said...

Well, I didn't receive said email, just so ya know...

Bela said...

Ooh, right. I forgot. One second...I'm sending...there! Okay, NOW look!

bela, good poem, but you must realize, we only make a big deal of the labels when you really don't want us to. it's kind of just automattic.

Bela said...

Amen to that! But it's cool...it works better that way. Hey, no one commented on the first poem! Geez, you people are aggravating!

Grr...it printed twice again. Sorry, I'm cranky. My files that held my essays got deleted somehow last night and I haven't slept in two days :(

Gina said...

Yeah, um, I still have no email from you... are you sure you sent it to the correct address??

Right... but do you mind editing my email address out of your comment so that the whole Internet doesn't have access to it? Thanks.

That's really cool that your poem is being published! Is White Oaks Press an anthology specifically for young writers, or does it publish anyone?

By the way, Maria, my uncle and aunt, and I went to go see Comedy of Errors at this place in Wallingford and it was HILARIOUS!!! It was like a techno Shakespeare dance party onstage! :)

Bela said...

Ooh, right. Sorry! Will do!

I think it's for all ages...I'm not sure, though. Ooh, I got another email today!!! :)

Techno-Shakespeare? Sweet :)
I like it!

Yeah, & slo-mo hugs at the end. :)
