Winter Light

Winter days, you've left me cold,
my last breath has faded away.
White winter, come closer to me,
and tell me you're here to stay.

Hide me under the silhouettes
of the frosted white pines.
Hold me in the tangled branches
and whisper that you're mine.

Wrap me in the wind,
and cover me in the snow.
Just give me all you can
before you have to go.

You've brought this to me,
this beauty, this bliss.
You've given me a winter's day,
and a white winter's kiss.

I feel like I should add another stanza before the last one. It seems kind of empty...

It's up to you whether to add another stanza. I think it's fine the way it is.

Word Verification: polly

Ha ha, polly...
Like Pollyanna, which is appropriate for this poem, in your view.

Haha! SO funny...

So, no extra stanza? Alrightie, then!

Yay! POLLYANNA! That is the GOOD definition, right?

My mom defines Pollyanna as, "a kid who made lemonade out of lemons...then sold it for five bucks." That's a direct quote!

Ha ha, there is this book from like fifty years ago called Pollyanna, and she was just this overly optimistic girl, to the point where it was overly naive and almost obnoxious. Her favorite word was "glad", and she just use it all the time. Pollyanna was one of those irritating people who are happy all the time and smug about it. So if something is pollyannaish, it is naive or overly optimistic.

Hey! I take offense to that! But I know, it IS rather happy for me...

And I think I remember reading Pollyanna...once upon a time...

Yeah, it was kind of a weird book. Hey, don't you love my new profile pic? Don't worry, the kid is drinking Canada Dry ginger ale, not anything ELSE you might have been thinking about... :)

I wasn't thinking of anything, were you?

Wait - what were you...?

GINA!!! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING OF???

Gina said...

Don't worry about it; I just thought the green glass of the bottle and the orangey liquid made it look like Ginger here was imbibing after taking a closer look at the picture.
