Saturday Night At The Memorial Day Fair

Finally alone,
waiting in line.

I said I was scared,
you held me.
You didn't let go.

Onto the ride,
we started to move.

I was too scared,
I reached for your hand.
I held it tightly.
You held back
and didn't let go.

We hit the top of the ride.
Right before the free fall
I thought you would let go.

Our hands went up
together as we fell.
Our fingers
still intertwined.
You didn't let go.

I don't know how many times I say this about your poems, but this could be a song, with a little tweaking. That reminds me, I have to go write my 32-bar song in ternary form in the key of B flat for music theory class right now... maybe I'll post the lyrics on the CWP blog. You never know. But it kind of sucks without the music, you don't get the full flavor at all. It's like eating an ice cream cone without the ice cream.

Oh, this was a couple weeks ago, so I'm assuming something has happened since then that has lead to your confused and lashing-out pieces. Is this a good deduction?

Oh, and I guess you have a lot of friends who begin with the letter a.

Wow. You're right again! A 32-bar song? Music theory? You're too smart for me. And good simile, by the way.

Yeah, you're still right. something did happen. Technically, I wasn't trying to make it seem as though I was lashing out, but to each her own, I suppose.

Yeah, I have a lot of friends with the letter "a". 16, to be exact.

And I bet not one of them is named Annabelle Lee.

No...but good guess. Why? Do you know someone who has that name?

Gina said...

She's buried in a sepulcher by the sea, in fact. Some say her name is really Lenore, though...

Go look up Poe, okay? God, what are they teaching you kids nowadays?
